Bricks Of War – If Gears of War Was a Lego Game This Would Be It

I’ve been a big fan of Gears of War since it came out a while back, like wise, I’ve been a big fan of Lego creations since my infancy. So when someone merges them together and do a good job at it, they instantly get my attention. Kooberz’s Bricks of War is one of these mix ups that make me happy on the inside.

The video is a stop motion animation take on a game play where Marcus Fenix pretty much does what he does best, throws frags and chain saws through the Locust like a fat kid tearing through a piece of cake.

Props for coming up with this awesome short video, if Lego games were this fun, I think I’d buy one just for the heck of it. Plus Marcus Fenix still looks like a bad ass – even in Lego form. Via YouTube

Smellit: Lets You Smell the Movies and Video Games

Do you smell what the Rock is cooking!? With this new addition to your consoles, you just might.

A while back they had a thing called the Smell-O-Vision, it was introduced in some movie theaters around the US. The Movie theater would send out smells to match what ever was going on in the scene. Now, thanks to Smellit, you will be able to enjoy the same smells in the comfort of your home.

Smellit works by mixing combinations of fragrances and using small fans to pump them into your room. It uses a computer to time the smell with the game or movie you are watching. I have one question though, who’s the guy that determines how something smells? I’ve bought the little pine tree car smell things at wal-mart before, and trust me, they don’t smell like no pine tree.

The company that’s developing these devices is located in France, it’s being manufactured by Olf Action, and they claim that this is really going to be an awesome addition to your entertainment. Let’s see if they are right, they haven’t released any information on the price so we’ll just have to wait and see how expensive the first version is going to cost.

Steven Spielberg-backed Halo movie back on, hits theaters in 2012

If you are a Halo fan, then you can rejoice…again…for the umpteenth time. The Halo movie is set to be released on theaters in 2012 thanks to Steven Spieldberg’s Dreamworks. The news came with a single release on a fresh site and translated by HBO. If this is actually true, this means that the movie should hit theaters in 2012.

Details about who is going to be directing the movie is still up in the clouds. In the past we had Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp onboard, then they threw the film down the drain. Hopefully, the movie will stay on track and we get to see it on theaters. The video above is a short from 2007 called Halo 3: Landfall which was put together by Neill Blomkamp a couple of years ago. It’s a mix between the three shorts – which is just a 9 minute teaser if you are a fan of the Halo Universe. I’ve seen some great fan made costumes, I can’t wait to see what they come up with! and NeoGAF, via VG247

Play Stations New Ad Campaign ‘Long Live Play’

Sony was getting a lot of bad rep for a little while following the PSN Network hacks, then changing the TOS so people can’t sue them, amongst other things. But somehow, they managed to pull them selves through at the end. I understand how businesses work, and a business the size of Sony has several levels of “catastrophic” recovery plans in place. These are the plans that keep a company afloat when they get hit with a mayor problem. So, I wasn’t to surprised when they started to pull back through, I was just a little surprised at how fast they achieved it.

I’m not a play station fan by any means, the PlayStation I do have doesn’t even belong to me, it was borrowed from a friend that had one too many in his video game arsenal. But this new video campaign that Sony just launched seems to be pretty awesome. It’s a tribute to “Michael” an anonymous gamer that has led every character into victory. This video gave me a new found respect for Sony.

This is definitely and awesome campaign that is going to take Sony pretty far. Just some things to point out though, not all the commercial actors are the voice actors of the game characters:  For example, that’s not Nolan North. The actors look very similar but if you look at small inconsistencies you can tell who’s playing the real actor and who isn’t. Overall… this video is… something else.

Disgruntled gamers sending SWAT teams to bug Xbox’s Staff

Imagine sitting at home with your wife and children enjoying the perfect dinner that you have been working on for the past two hours. Then you hear a voice over a loud speaker coming from outside calling your name saying that they have the entire house surrounded!

Your wife looks at you in the eyes and says “Who the bleep did I marry!?!” well, if you are an Xbox Live Employee that is tasked with banning people who cheat, this may be an every day ordeal.

Eric Neustadter is one of these Xbox employees, and the most recent attack against him was an unknown person sending in texts to 911 pretending to be Neustadter

The texts were saying that he had only seconds to live. Two males that he identified as Russians had forcefully entered his house, shot his son dead and scattered military-grade Claymore mines all across his lawn. In that moment, a barricaded bedroom door and a text to 911 were his only hopes at seeing another sunrise. So what happened next?

“Police asked him to come outside. Meanwhile, AT&T got another message that stated, “There’s a device blinking red on the kitchen table.”When Neustadter went outside he was “momentarily detained,” the report states, until police were sure nobody was hurt.

“He was able to tell us that everyone in the house was alright and that he believed it was a hoax because it had occurred to numerous other Microsoft employees in the past,” states the police report, …”

Super Mario and Portal Mashup in the Works

I’m a big fan of the Portal series and the classic Super Mario series, and now thanks to an awesome group of witty programers, we might have an amazing mashup between the two.

The game is currently in the works and it will be released freely on the internet. It will feature all the original Super Mario Brothers levels with a small twist: The portal gun. You’ll be able to “portal” your enemies onto the side of the cliffs or even make Mario jump extremely high.

Most amazingly, the game will include a level editor that will guarantee that we will never run out of levels. It will also give people the ability to create puzzles.

You can read all about how the development is going over here.

Throught the Fire and Flames Lego Edition

Lego’s are awesome, but you don’t always need to make a 3D model to make something cool out of them. In this case used a flat Lego board to re-create the guitar frets of guitar hero and play through the fire and flames. This stop motion animation is superb and down extremely accurate to the sound. You’ll really enjoy it, make sure you check out Fuzzletop’s channel for other videos similar to this one.
